Weleda Toothpaste

I spied this on the shelf
at the healthy food store.

I know I should instead be making toothpaste from scratch.
Oh, how I know it.

But I thought I'd spice things up a bit
and explore this product first.

After all, it said "plant gel" for "sensitive gums"
and "Vegetal." And it was pretty, inside and out.

But if this doesn't impress me beyond all others,
I promise to start making Grandpa's recipe. :o)

plant gel probably means aloe vera.
I stick to Forever Living's 'Forever Bright'
Organic, natural,and it works.
No nasty chemicals either.
Or you could grow your own....

You have to admit that it is pretty for a toothpaste. I'd buy it, especially since I don't make my own. I might have to try it some day.

I am looking forward to hearing your verdict! It really is pretty.

Oooh do share! We use this sea based stuff that gets all gunky in the base of the bristles! ACK! We'll have to try that!

If it does not taste truly nasty, I'd be willing to try it.

I'll have to check to see if Sprouts carries it.

Pretty sure I won't be making my own anytime soon, so, you know, might as well give this a whirl!

Haven't tried this one, but I'm a fan of other Weleda products. Let us know what you think.

I'm thinking of giving Tooth Soap a try:

1 Tbsp Dr. Bronner's liquid soap
5 Tbsp unrefined coconut oil
1 Tbsp cold-pressed olive oil
10-12 drops orange oil
10-12 drops peppermint oil

Blend the ingredients together thoroughly into a paste.

GZ - Thanks so much for the other brand info!

ShannonMarie - Yes...it is pretty!

Wen - It'll be in soon. :o)

YS - Oh, I was just sure you had a homemade recipe to share...still wishin'...hee.

Heather - It tastes different, texture, too...but not nasty. :o)

EarthMother - Will do. Thanks for the tooth soap recipe!

A. Aspiring to make your own toothpaste is incredible.
B. I find it amazing that "plant gel" was what hooked you. That is what would have turned me off. Plant gel? For plant hair to make it stay in place?
C. You put a whole whopping amount of toothpaste on there! Do you know the recommended amount by dentists is a "pea sized amount?" Yea, well, I don't pay attention to that either. Use it all I say!

Boomka,
You are funny!

And since you mentioned the pea-sized amount, here's my update on this product to share with you all...

I've found that I need to use a lot of it, to feel like it's done an adequate job of cleaning. A lot of it goes a little way, I'm sure, due to no sudsing agent. So...I'll use up this tube but then likely make my own recipe or one of your recipes. I'm stsill holding out hope that the perfect solution appears. Because I love that really clean feeling that a good brushing brings. And...that really economical feeling that a wise decision brings.

:o)

I'm curious about what you thought of the toothpaste too. :)

HiHo,
I have to use more of it than I should, to get that clean feeling. Partly due to no sudsing, I think. We'll see what happens next...!
